Islamic ban on 'Satan Gaga' - Star ordered to axe - Jakarta concert by cops - A LADY Gaga gig has been cancelled after she was accused of spreading “satanic teaching” by Islamic hardliners.
Fundamentalist groups in Indonesia branded the singer “vulgar” and indecent.
They believe she will corrupt the youth of the nation, which has the world’s largest Muslim population. And cops have backed them by refusing to issue a permit for a Gaga concert in the capital Jakarta.
The city’s 52,000-seat Gelora Bung Karno stadium had sold out for the June 3 gig — the biggest on Gaga’s Asian tour — in two hours. But now fans have been left disappointed and angry.
Some hardliners had even threatened to use force to prevent the 26-year-old Born This Way megastar from setting foot on Indonesian soil.
Habib Salim Alatas, of the Islamic Defenders Front, said: “She had better not dare spread her satanic faith here. Her style is vulgar, her sexual and indecent clothes will destroy our children’s sense of morality.
“She wears only panties and a bra when she sings and she stated she is the envoy of the devil’s child.”
But gutted fan Mariska Renata, who had tickets, said cops had bowed to the wishes of “trouble makers”.
“I’m very disappointed. We are mature enough to be able to separate our own moral values from arts and culture."
Last night the show’s promoters Big Daddy declined to confirm it had been canned. And it was not clear if it could be staged in another city. ( thesun.co.uk )
