The Gaga embargo

EPHRAIM HARDCASTLE: The Gaga embargo - The Director of Public Prosecutions’ principal legal adviser, Alison Levitt QC, announces charges against former News International chief executive Rebekah Brooks, husband Charlie, and four others for conspiracy to pervert the course of justice. In private life, chiselled-cheeked Alison, 48, is Lady Carlile. She eloped with Lib Dem peer Baron Carlile of Berriew, 63, in 2007, after a five-month affair. The News of the World – former editor: Rebekah Brooks – quoted the poignant response of Carlile’s then wife, Frances: ‘He was bored with me.’

Lady Gaga, 26, pictured, is refused a work permit to perform in Jakarta, Indonesia, after objections from, inter alia, the Islamic Defenders Front, which says: ‘She’s a vulgar singer who wears only panties and a bra when she sings and she stated she is the envoy of the devil’s child and that she will spread satanic teaching.’ Bra and pants appearances are demure by the standards of Her Gaganess. A recent New Yorker cartoon had martians alighting from a spaceship and telling cops: ‘Take us to Lady Gaga.’

Described as the Royal Family’s favourite interviewer – he’s chatted on TV to Princes Philip, Charles, William and Andrew as well as Princesses Anne and Eugenie – Alan Titchmarsh says he’ll never get the Queen on screen. ‘The interview with Her Majesty is unlikely, don’t hold your breath. She doesn’t do them, so there is absolutely nil chance.’ The little rascal’s trying to soften up HM!

Labour's National Youth Officer, Callum Munro, who sits on the party’s ruling National Executive Committee, posts a Bullingdon Club-style photo of himself (see picture) on Facebook. A source says: ‘He bores comrades daily by boasting in a thick Glaswegian accent that he’ll become Prime Minister.’ Just when Ed Miliband’s personal poll ratings were rising!

Tory MP for Bedford Richard Fuller seeks a Commons debate paying tribute to the late hairdresser, Vidal Sassoon, but Leader of the House of Commons, Sir George Young, rejects the idea, adding: ‘I am afraid I do not require very much time in the hairdresser’s chair to have my hair dealt with.’ It’s not all about you, baldy!

The Advertising Standards Authority has launched an inquiry after ‘homophobia’ complaints were made about an advertisement for the Coalition for Marriage, which says: ‘Same-sex couples may choose to have a civil partnership but no one has the right to redefine marriage for the rest of us.’ What’s so wrong with that? The ASA’s chairman, Lord Smith of Finsbury, 60, the former Labour culture minister, is in a civil partnership with charity executive Dorian Jabri, 49. ( dailymail.co.uk )

Islamic ban on 'Satan Gaga'

Islamic ban on 'Satan Gaga' - Star ordered to axe - Jakarta concert by cops - A LADY Gaga gig has been cancelled after she was accused of spreading “satanic teaching” by Islamic hardliners.

Fundamentalist groups in Indonesia branded the singer “vulgar” and indecent.

They believe she will corrupt the youth of the nation, which has the world’s largest Muslim population. And cops have backed them by refusing to issue a permit for a Gaga concert in the capital Jakarta.

Lady Gaga
Facing no-show ... Lady Gaga

The city’s 52,000-seat Gelora Bung Karno stadium had sold out for the June 3 gig — the biggest on Gaga’s Asian tour — in two hours. But now fans have been left disappointed and angry.

Some hardliners had even threatened to use force to prevent the 26-year-old Born This Way megastar from setting foot on Indonesian soil.

Habib Salim Alatas, of the Islamic Defenders Front, said: “She had better not dare spread her satanic faith here. Her style is vulgar, her sexual and indecent clothes will destroy our children’s sense of morality.

“She wears only panties and a bra when she sings and she stated she is the envoy of the devil’s child.”

But gutted fan Mariska Renata, who had tickets, said cops had bowed to the wishes of “trouble makers”.

“I’m very disappointed. We are mature enough to be able to separate our own moral values from arts and culture."

Last night the show’s promoters Big Daddy declined to confirm it had been canned. And it was not clear if it could be staged in another city. ( thesun.co.uk )

Lady Gaga will have to cancel Indonesia concert

Lady Gaga will have to cancel Indonesia concert - Lady Gaga will have to cancel her sold-out show in Indonesia following protests by Islamic hard-liners and conservative lawmakers, who said her sexy clothes and dance moves will corrupt the youth.

National police spokesman Boy Rafli Amar, responding to the pressure, said Tuesday that the permit for her June 3 "Born This Way Ball" concert had been denied.

Indonesia, a nation of 240 million people, has more Muslims than any other. Although it is secular and has a long history of religious tolerance, a small extremist fringe has become more vocal in recent years.

Hard-liners have loudly criticized Lady Gaga, saying the suggestive nature of her show threatened to undermine the country's moral fiber. Some threatened to use physical force to prevent her from stepping off the plane.

Lawmakers and religious leaders, too, have spoken out against her.

Worried they could not guarantee security, local police recommended the permit for the show be denied, said Amar, adding that national police decided Tuesday to comply.

It was supposed to be the biggest show on Lady Gaga's Asian tour, with fans snapping up every seat in Jakarta's 52,000-seat Gelora Bung Karno stadium — half of them in the first two hours of sales.

Permits usually are issued about three weeks before a concert in Jakarta, so it is common to sell tickets well ahead of receiving the permit. It was not immediately clear if the ticket sales would be refunded. The local promoter, Michael Rusli, could not be reached for comment.

"I'm very disappointed," said Mariska Renata, who had tickets to the Jakarta show.

She said by bowing to the wishes of "troublemakers," authorities only give them more power. "We are mature enough to be able to separate our own moral values from arts and culture," Renata said.

Lady Gaga's Asian tour started late last month and many of the stops have sold out. The South Korean concerts were limited to fans 18 or older because conservatives there raised objections. (

Just like magic! Daniel Radcliffe still looks exactly like Harry Potter as he films his latest movie in New York

Just like magic! Daniel Radcliffe still looks exactly like Harry Potter as he films his latest movie in New York - He is branching out with other roles since the end of the Harry Potter saga.

But it seems Daniel Radcliffe’s latest character isn’t all that far removed from the boy wizard – at least where his wardrobe is concerned.

The actor looked the spitting image of the part he is best-known for when he was spotted filming his latest movie Kill Your Darlings in New York.

The 22-year-old plays the protagonist in the film, which is based on the life of gay Beat generation poet Allen Ginsberg.

He wore cream trousers, a grey shirt and a red cardigan to shoot scenes earlier this week.

But it was his rounded spectacles that made Radcliffe reminiscent of his Harry Potter character.

The film also stars Elizabeth Olsen as Edie Parker, the first wife of fellow Beat Generation writer Jack Kerouac.

Ben Foster co-stars as William S. Burroughs with Dane DeHaan as Lucien Carr.

The movie is based on the novel 'And the Hippos Were Boiled in Their Tanks' by Kerouac and Burroughs.

Dexter star Michael C. Hall also appears in the thriller as teacher David Kammerer.

During his Harry Potter heyday in 2007, Radcliffe told the Daily Star: 'I’d never play a gay character just for the sake of it.

‘But if the script was good and it was a good character, it wouldn’t bother me. Playing characters exploring their sexuality is a challenge.’

Madonna reveals she wants to collaborate with Adele

'I would love to work with her': Madonna reveals she wants to collaborate with Adele - Last month she defended Adele when the young singer was ridiculed over her weight by designer Karl Lagerfeld.

Now, Madonna has revealed that she not only wants to work with the talented Londoner, but she also planned to perform with her at the Super Bowl.

The 53-year-old is a big fan of Adele and had planned to have her join the impressive line-up at the Super Bowl halftime show alongside Nicki Minaj, MIA and Cee Lo Green.

In an interview to be aired Friday 20 April on ITV1’s Daybreak and Lorraine, she revealed just how impressed she is with Adele.

When asked if she would work with the Rolling in the Deep singer she said: 'Yes, I would love to. I would love to meet her, I think she’s brilliant, I love her.'

She continued: 'I wanted her to be in the Super Bowl with me, but I think she was having her throat problem or throat operation or something.'

The Queen of pop hinted that a stage performance between the pair could still happen at Hyde Park this summer where she is set to play a one off date.

Madonna was quick to stand up for Adele when Karl Lagerfeld dubbed her 'a little too fat', last month.

She told The Sun: 'That's horrible. That's ridiculous, that's just the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard...

'Adele's a great talent and how much she weighs has nothing to do with it.'

While Madge may be gushing over Adele, she confessed that she has no idea who One Direction are and never watches shows like X Factor.

She said: 'I haven’t seen them yet, no, sorry. Slap my hand.

While her daughter Lourdes is more likely to be a fan of the boy band, the teenager found herself in trouble this week with her mother.

The 15-year-old was caught lighting up while she loitered around with male friends in New York last month. The legal age for smoking in America is 18.

When asked how she reacted, Madonna, 53, admitted she 'wasn't very happy.'

'I'm probably not as tough as I should be,' she told the Today show. 'I think I need to be maybe tougher.'

'Every day is a negotiation, but cigarette smoking I'm not very fond of,' she added. ( dailymail.co.uk )

Gun in photo with Pippa Middleton said to be a toy — Pippa Middleton went to Paris for a friend's birthday party and the British media are agog over an alleged gun flashed at paparazzi by one of her companions.

A friend of Prince William and Kate Middleton Lady Katie Percy, 28 who is the eldest daughter of the Duke and Duchess of Northumberland, will marry Patrick Valentine, 30, before a party at the family home Alnwick Castle. According to reports on June 13, 2011, Pippa and cricker star turned banker boyfriend Alex Loudon have split. (Photo by Chris Jackson/Getty Images)

But a spokesman for a French fashion designer photographed in a car with Middleton, sister of the Duchess of Cambridge, and a pistol-brandishing driver says it was a toy gun, and just "a game" with paparazzi.

Aymeric de Drouas, spokesman for a French clothing company owned by Arthur de Soultrait, told The Associated Press the gun in a photo published by The Sun newspaper was a toy and the photographers knew it.

Drouas says Middleton and Soultrait told him they were joking with photographers who'd been trailing them throughout Middleton's visit for Soultrait's birthday party.

Paris police say they've received no complaint and are not investigating. (
